The Orthman 1tRIPr preplant tillage tool combines proven strip-till soil management, precision nutrient placement, and seedbed preparation in a single field pass to provide unprecedented field efficiency. The 1tRIPr name is derived from combining multiple operations to meet preplant objectives while conserving moisture, soil, time, and money in one trip.
The 1tRIPr can be utilized as a stand-alone machine or in unison with the Orthman Combo Caddy or a planter attachment package to truly combine multiple operations and maximize one pass productivity. The 1tRIPr can tackle various field conditions such as: wheat stubble, cover crop, and standing corn stalks while providing a clean, level, and ideally suited seedbed each and every time.
The 1tRIPr is available in 4 to 16 row configurations using Orthman’s time tested rigid, folding, or stacking toolbars to provide supreme implement strength in the industry’s leading strip-till machine. The 1tRIPr is also available with an optional trip-tail automatic reset row unit.
- Four adjustable down pressure springs assist with soil penetration while parallel linkages allow the row unit to operate independent of the toolbar to provide uniform tillage.
- A solid precision tillage shank shatters root zone compaction while placing fertilizer at two precision depths to maximize seed development from germination through maturity.
- A new shallow tillage dual coulter option can be used in place of the shank for wet conditions that don't allow the grower to use the classic shank.
- Adjustable wavy coulters “lift and pinch” action incorporates field residue, decreases soil variability, and firms and finishes the optimum seedbed.
- Proven Orthman toolbar designs coupled with a wraparound mount provides a durable row unit foundation.
- The depth band coulter provides consistent row unit tooling depth while the coulter cuts surface and subsurface residue.
- Adjustable heavy-duty notched trash openers manage various residue conditions by reducing rearward plugging in the row unit.
- Optional rearward mounted rolling baskets reduce clod size, retain existing soil moisture, firm, and complete the optimum seedbed.

The Coastal Plains 1tRIPr combines the proven 1tRIPr strip-till row unit base, with specifically designed tooling for the sandy abrasive coastal plains soils. The standard wavy coulters are replaced with press wheels and the basket option gives way to a pneumatic tire roller for absolute minimum soil disturbance. The 1tRIPr CP row unit comes standard with the automatic trip tail reset.
